Superdry : Genius Business

Did you ever rocking any type of clothing labeled as SUPERDRY with big funky japanese word attached to the shirt. There are fakes everywhere in Malaysia especially at night market or business place close to that with a way cheaper price than the original.

The first time i saw this brand that always attached by japanese word as their identities, first thing that crossed in my mind is that the brand itself originated from Japan. The land that recognised as a land of creativities, and people do believe that any product that came up from Japan got the sense of high qualities and premium feels. But later on, after did a minor research i found that i was fooled by the label strategies. For god sake, they actually born in England. They are a major player in streetwear industries there. Quite a genius marketing brand strategies played down there. The Superdry logo appears relatively prominently on the clothes in various guises. Most commonly, it is seen with Japanese script underneath it. The vibe is Oriental exoticism mixed with US street culture and UK fit. Think a British version of Abercrombie & Fitch. Via Tokyo and boom, there you go, Superdry !! Superdry is a relative newcomer on the fashion scene having only been founded in 2003 but Superdry has wasted no time in becoming a firm favourite amongst celebrities and fashion conscious alike. David Beckham to Jude Law and Kate Moss helped to boost the brand image and awareness. In 2010, The SUPERDRY is already £1bn business.

Japanese vibe + American style + UK standard = Multicultural genius brand profile.

The truth is i never rocked the brand. But i fully fascinated by their brand marketing itself. I'm raising my hat off to the man behind the brand, Julian Dunkerton. Simple, and cool guy. From ordinary become extraordinary. From commoner to billionare.

New Balance Phenomenon

There's something about NB that i crave for. I don't know. The big N word can be annoying, but also amusing. But after all, NB has made a comeback in the world of sneaker head. I know they are there all along, but, seriously, this time, they have seriously made a big comeback. The big N are spot on in every corner of the street. Me too rockin' a pair of NB 574. My favourite, my precious 574.

SAYONARA NIGO from BAPE

BAPE is no longer under NIGO.  Will BAPE survive? Officially now fully manage under a company from HK called I.T, without NIGO as a creative director like previous 2 years before, i hope they can carry this brand forward. For me, the departure of NIGO is the end  of one of illustrious era in street fashion.

Ganbare, NIGO

ABOUT JAJAH

JAJAH clothing basically is a streetwear clothing brand. This is my project on how i interprate street fashion in my hood, Malaysia, in terms of Malaysia cultural art, political struggle and the face of my own people. To make it short, JAJAH is a symbol of Malaysianism. That is my sincere hope and dream that i hold dearly.

The project right now is in 'stale' mode because right now, i got other project to focus on. Another clothing label, made by typical strategies to follow up-to-date trend in clothing societies. In other word, to cater what people loves in recent time. JAJAH for me is different. JAJAH for me is true by its nature.

In the near future, you may see JAJAH on our street. You maybe love it, or, maybe you will hate it. And maybe you will describe JAJAH as another small fish in a large pond full of bigger fish. Maybe, JAJAH just add to what people say as an another addition of typical  what the fuck brand in streetwear societies. I hope not. And i hope, i can prove em wrong. This will be a hard long journey for JAJAH as a brand, and me, personally.

JAJAH 1st ever word

JAJAH came from Malay word that represent ; to conquer ; to defeat or to subdue by force. If one day, people ask me one stupid typical fuckin' question like, " how did you come up with this name ?", My simplest answer is, we want to conquer our dream. Then, my dream is to make cool shirt for mankind.

Thats it.
